POPmatters REVIEW of (O)

(aka we are blushing our brains out!!! Thanks for your kind words.)

8 out of 10

"(O)
, the second of three EPs promised from Denver’s Wentworth Kersey, finds the duo upping the atmospheric ante while maintaining a strong songwriting perspective. Passing comparisons toYankee Hotel Foxtrot-era Wilco remain apt, but the tracks here feel even more ethereal and ghostly than its predecessor. The slow burn of the majestic “Teton Mountains” unfolds like a fractured wilderness expanse before melting into the plaintive strummer “Brief Symphony”. “Empty Mall/Dead Mall” into “Worms” follows a similar stylistic arc with the results never feeling forced or rushed. One day in the future, those outside the city limits of Denver will wake up to Wentworth Kersey. Armed with a fully formed aesthetic and an ear for mixing texture and melody in gorgeous proportions, the duo will be well prepared to meet the increased scrutiny. It’s only a matter of time."

YOU CRAZY DREAMERS nicely labels a Wentworth Kersey track "Song of the Day."

"The music is something that would make a great soundtrack for a Quentin Tarantino movie (when he decided to make a serious movie). While I would say the sound is basically “folk” it is soo much more - it has so many textures, auras of rolling Appalachian valleys and a modern day Mexi-Cali conquistadors - all with a slight bit of ambient flowing through it all."

" Highly recommended."

EP (O) REVIEW in Belgium's own ROOTSTIME...

Not sure what it completely says, but I know it doesn't compare us to Don Johnson's album. :)
